GS1 India organised a ‘National Conference on QR Code Implementation on Agri-inputs' at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on September 1st, 2023. The objective of the conference was to create awareness about the benefits of standards-based QR Code implementation for the agri-input sector.

It highlighted the significance of QR Codes in enabling end-to-end traceability, sustainability, compliance with regulations, building transparency in the supply chain, and reduction of counterfeit products thereby benefiting the farmers.

The conference comprised talks and discussions that enlightened how the implementation of standards plays an important role. Industry experts highlighted that the adoption and implementation of QR code and traceability technologies can offer the potential to streamline agri-food supply chains. Significant advantages delivered in the agri-input sector with the adoption of global standards were discussed at length. The role of GS1 India in various sectors like API, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and seeds for enabling digital link-based QR codes to help them comply with the Department of Agriculture guidelines to incorporate QR codes on the packaging was underlined.
